Suggested Reading Lists

Many parents have been asking about suitable books for their children to read. The English Department has compiled a list of titles and authors for each year group - but the list is not exhaustive and an amazing range of new books are released each month.

Parents should be aware that the suggested titles are aimed towards a range of reading abilities in each year group. Some titles may not be suitable for your child's reading comprehension level.

Parents are also advised to monitor their children's reading as some of the titles suggested may contain vocabulary or subject matter that you may prefer your child not to encounter.

Although the lists are in year groups, please feel free to browse and select books from other lists if you feel your child would enjoy them. Do not feel that they have to read every book on the list. After all, we want to encourage children to read widely for their own enjoyment and develop a real love of the written word.

Use the links below to jump to the list you require.
