Year 7 and 8
visit
Futuroscope in France

In March many of the Year 7 and 8 pupils visited Futuroscope - an exciting theme park in France.

Everyone had a fantastic time.
The 2005 Experience

There was not a dull moment. From the games on the Eurostar and TGV high-speed train - to the stunning array of car parks we visited (not always intentionally) when trying to find our hotel - there was joy and laughter.

Every single one of us got to try out our French language skills when buying lunch. Our grateful thanks must go to the wonderful French lady at the sandwich kiosk for patiently listening to the requests of each one of us!

The Crystal Building which housed one of the films.

Everything about Futuroscope was - as you might guess - futuristic. That included the hotel and business park buildings that surrounded it.

From some of our bedroom windows we could see the buildings in the park - and the skies really were that colour!

The designs of the building that housed the films and rides impressed us all.

Some of the rides and simulations meant that we had to wear glasses to make the images 3D.

By the end of the day we were exhausted! Time for bed. Everyone was supposed to bring a cuddly toy - including the teachers - but only Mr Muzzall did! Mr Muzzall's Teddy Bear in bed

The 2007 Experience

We went again in 2007 - even Barclay! There were some new rides and shows. The weather was not so fantastic - but the visit was just as exciting!

Some of us seemed less than happy on the 360 degree viewing tower ride...

Children shopping
New for this year was the French shopping experience - so we made sure we stocked up on essentials... chocolate, chocolate and, yes, CHOCOLATE!
Dancing with Robots
New, too, was the Dancing with Robots experience. Only the bravest amongst us decided to do this. It involved being whirled about and turned upside down (if not inside out) by a robotic arm.
When we were on the station waiting to come home we were surprised to find that the mayor had come to wave us off. We thought this was really friendly!
The Mayor
Then the police arrived and we wondered if we deserved such a send off.
The Police
Then the television cameras arrived. This was too much!

Then we found out that they were at the station to protest about a proposed new train track that would destroy several houses and ruin the village.

The mayor was there to stand in front of our train for 15 minutes as a protest!

Ah well...fame can be fleeting.

Barclay with Mr Muzzall
As Barclay was two years older he was allowed to go on some of the rides (as long as he stayed in the rucksack)!
Barclay in his Spacesuit
He was also very pleased with his new Futuroscope Spacesuit!
