British Museum Visit

Image of mummified body Year 3 visited the British Museum as part of their studies about Ancient Egypt.

They discovered some fascinating mummies - including mummified cats (scroll down the page to see them) - and artefacts such as ankhs.

A brilliant time was had by everyone.

Image of mummified cat The Egyptians were not just mummifying their pets - cats were very highly regarded! When a household cat died the entire family would shave their eyebrows to show their sadness.

One of the oldest Egyptian Goddesses was Bast - who had the head of a cat.
